Apple updated its Apple Watch Ultra 2 model, released last year, with a new color this year. While many expected a new, more durable model (Watch Ultra 3) to launch alongside the Apple Watch Series 10, the company chose to keep the same model in circulation for another year. However, in addition to the new color, new features continue to be added to the watch. Here are the three updates coming with watchOS 11…
1. Tides app
With the Tides app, announced during the iPhone 16 event, Apple offers its users 7-day wave forecasts for various shores and surfing spots around the world.
The app presents information such as high and low tides, tide direction, wave height, sunrise, and sunset on a timeline. Although the app was initially introduced for Apple Watch Series 10, it is now also available for Apple Watch Ultra 2.
2. Much more powerful speakers…
One of the standout features of the Apple Watch Series 10 is the built-in speakers, which allow users to listen to music and follow podcasts.
Although Apple highlighted this feature for the Series 10 models, Ultra 2 owners can now enjoy the same benefit. Moreover, the Apple Watch Ultra’s speakers are designed to deliver more powerful sound than those on the Series 10, and with watchOS 11, a significant improvement in sound performance is observed.
3. Sleep Apnea detection…
With the new update, Apple Watch Ultra 2 can monitor small wrist movements to detect irregularities in breathing, allowing it to identify potential sleep apnea problems during rest.
This advanced sleep tracking system is also available on older models like the Series 10 and Series 9, and has now been rolled out to Ultra 2 users with the latest operating system update.
